Who are those
discreet monsters?

With a DM 3.5 million backing from DVCG (Deutsche Venture Capital Gesellschaft), a
business partnership between Deutsche Bank and two other investors), Munich-based discreet
monsters has established a solid base from which to launch itself into the interactive
entertainment marketplace. Its first game, The Real Neverending Story, is due for release
around Easter 1999, and will single-handedly define a new genre; that of the Parallel
World (3D real-time adventure with off-line/on-line mix and self-living components).

In 1995, discreet monsters began work on MonsterEngine - a revolutionary design tool that
would enable the creation of complex and varied 3D real-time worlds, comprising both indoor
and outdoor areas. Now, three years on, MonsterEngine is in its final stages - and work
on The Real Neverending Story, the first game to utilise this new technology, clearly
demonstrates the capabilities and freedom offered by this new engine.

For the first time, players can enter a world that is as real as our own, yet as fantastic
as the designer's imagination allows. With the MonsterEngine you can create subterranean
caves, fertile forests, barren deserts, bustling villages, grimy metropolises all within
the same level, if you like.

This propriety technology will be licensed to third-party developers on completion,
allowing the entire development community access
to one of the hottest design tools around. A cut-down retail version will also be released
around six months after The Real Neverending Story.

But discreet monsters' desire to innovate doesn't end there. The components of the main
game will be used to form a never-ending off-line / on-line world - the Parallel World -
which is constantly changing and evolving. This will exist separately from the main game
and offers users unparalleled replay value.

The components are in place to extend this franchise with at least two other Real
Neverending Story releases - with the sequel already at the design stage. These
additional games will boast similar cutting-edge technology, complimenting its sister
titles rather than replacing them.

discreet monsters' concrete localisation support and firm commitment to its publisher
and distribution partners will enable The Real Neverending Story to be released world-wide
in 15 different languages. It is actively seeking publishing and distribution agreements,
and welcomes any approach.
