DTL-H2700 README

Introduction
This diskette contains the utilities needed in order to use the DTL-
H2700. The diskette contents consist of flash.bat, used to write the ROM
image to the flash memory, and reset27.exe, used in the switching and
resetting of the boot ROM when switching and resetting NTSC/PAL screen
mode.

File Configuration
The following files are included on the diskette. In order to use them,
first copy them to the psyq/flash27 directory.

reset27.exe Performs mode switching and resetting
flash.bat Writes ROM image to flash memory
h2700n.bin The ROM image written to the flash memory for NTSC users
h2700p.bin The ROM image written to the flash memory for PAL users
util/init File used by flash.bat
util/pflash File used by flash.bat
util/clearmem File used by flash.bat
util/psxcons.exe File used by flash.bat

DTL-H2700 differences

The DTL-H2700 differs from the DTL-H2000 on the following points:
1) It uses flash memory as the boot ROM.
2) It is able to use software to switch between NTSC/PAL screen mode.
3) A patch file must be executed in the DTL-H2000 when the power source
is input, but in the DTL-H2700 this is no longer necessary.
4) A performance analyzer has been newly-added. *

*The performance analyzer operates independently of the DTL-H2700
PlayStation part. For details please refer to the performance analyzer
manual.

Flash Memory
When it is shipped, a h2700.bin image having functions equivalent to the
DTL-H2000 is written to the flash memory. This means that a development
environment which employs SDevTC tools can be used. Rewriting of the
contents after a flash memory ROM image is destroyed, or updating the
flash memory contents for a new version, is carried out using flash.bat.
For PAL users, please write h2700p.bin to the flash memory using
flash.bat
when installing the DTL-H2700.

Power source input and reset
When the power source is input, the DTL-H2700 starts up in NTSC screen
mode. When it is reset, the status which was in effect prior to the reset
is preserved. Therefore, if the mode is set once using reset27.exe when
the power source is input, there is no need to set it again later on.

flash.bat
ROM images specified by their file names are written in the DTL-H2700
flash memory.

Syntax: flash file_name [-p <I/O address>]

The -p <I/O address> specifies the I/O address set in the DTL-H2700.

When the I/O address is not specified, the address set in the PC
environment variable DEX2000 is used.

Example:
       flash h2700.bin -p 0x1340

Example:
       set DEX2000=0x1340
       flash h2700.bin

Note:
- When operation is abnormal and the DOS prompt cannot be returned to,
press F10 F2.
- Make sure that DEXBIOS is in the 'Remove' state as it is executed.

reset27.exe
This switches the DTL-H2700 boot ROM and the PAL/NTSC screen modes and
also resets the DTL-H2700.

Syntax: reset27 [-r] [-e|-f] [-p|-n] [-a<I/O address>]

-r Resets the DTL-H2700
-e Sets the boot ROM to EPROM
-f Sets the boot ROM to flash memory
-n Sets the screen mode to NTSC
-p Sets the screen mode to PAL

- If specification is omitted, the previous mode is maintained.
- EPROM is normally not used. When flash.bat writes the flash memory
image, it is used internally.

The -a<I/O address> specifies the I/O address set in the DTL-H2700.
When the I/O address is not set, the address set in the PC environment
variable DEX2000 is used.

Example
       reset27 -f -n -a0x1340

Example
       set DEX2000=0x1340
       reset27 -f -n
